If there's one thing to take away from Milan Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2022, it's that a new era of joyful dressing is upon us. Looking ahead to brighter days, Italian fashion houses including Prada, Fendi and Versace delivered new collections with lively colors, eye-popping prints and avant-garde shapes galore. The latter two even linked up to host a joint presentation, "Fendace," featuring collaborative pieces of swapped logos and their combined aesthetics.

Here, HYPEBAE rounds up some of the best shows and the biggest runway trends in Milan this season. While you are at it, check out the coolest street style looks from the week.

Blumarine

Under the creative direction of Nicola Brognano, Blumarine has, in only a few seasons, reemerged as one of the most exciting brands on the Milan Fashion Week calendar. A celebration of Y2K style and its renaissance, the Italian house's SS22 collection was characterized by its carefree, cool girl attitude. Styled by Lotta Volkova, models were dressed up in going-out tops -- a butterfly-shaped halter top, a sequinned and fringed bralette, a one-shoulder tee printed with flowers and clouds -- and more-is-more accessories. From colorful mini bags to tinted frames, the show offered plenty of visual candy.

Fendi

Kim Jones' second ready-to-wear collection for Fendi embraces the optimistic hues and disco-ready silhouettes of the '70s. Inspired by the work and the liberated spirit of fashion illustrator Antonio Lopez, a friend of the late Karl Lagerfeld, the artful SS22 showcase featured glamorous, sexy suiting, statement-making coats and feminine silk separates printed with a hand-sketched Fendi logo. The Italian brand's iconic handbags, from the Peekaboo to the Baguette, were refreshed with whimsical graphic artwork, while floral motifs from Lopez's drawings were translated into wearable hair accessories.

Jil Sander

A lesson in balance, Lucie and Luke Meier's latest collection for Jil Sander explores the duality between simplicity and sophistication. Putting a playful twist on the brand's signature tailored pantsuits and clean-cut outerwear, the husband-and-wife creative duo presented a range of sorbet-colored ensembles with a mix of geometric shapes and unexpected textures. The opening look, a lemon yellow lapel-less blazer, was accented by an exaggerated scarf collar. Long sweater vests and midi skirts, made of peachy, hairy knit and crocheted cotton and chenille, looked simultaneously elegant and lighthearted.

Prada

Staged at the same time in Milan and Shanghai, Prada's SS22 show, titled "Seduction, Stripped Down," was a focused study of feminine sartorial elements. Flowing trains, corset boning and bra wiring were re-contextualized to create modern, relaxed everyday clothing that somehow retains the sensuality of evening wear. Standout pieces from Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons' latest outing included a jacket featuring details that resemble corset lacing, a knit polo designed with built-in bra cups, as well as a backless pink satin dress with a floor-grazing train.

Versace

Set to a remix of music by Dua Lipa, who made her runway debut at the show, the Versace SS22 presentation was youthful and delightfully vibrant. The foulard, a key item of the storied Italian house, was the collection's starting point. Silk scarves printed with the Medusa and the La Greca motifs were made into silken shirting, pants, handbags and even earrings. There were also dresses made of skintight latex and glittering mesh, slashed to reveal slivers of skin and fastened by safety pins, another Versace signature.
