What Did Stars Wear to Their First-Ever Met Gala? Take a Look Here

New York City has seen a hectic week, with physical Spring/Summer 2022 runway shows, the MTV VMAs and now the 2021 Met Gala. With the event arriving after multiple delays and cancellations due to the pandemic, the fashion crowd is more excited than ever to see celebrities, influencers and more take the red carpet in stunning looks. Here, we've rounded up what stars wore to their first-ever Met Gala.

This year's event -- themed "In America: A Lexicon of Fashion" -- welcomed a number of social media influencers such as YouTuber Emma Chamberlain who wore a golden dress by Louis Vuitton. Meanwhile, CL and BLACKPINK's Rosé made history as the first two female K-pop musicians to attend the event. Kim Petras arrived in a horse-shaped bustier by Collina Strada as Lil Nas X made headlines with his three golden outfits.

Addison Rae

TikTok star Addison Rae kept things simple in a bold red vintage Gucci gown designed by Tom Ford in 2003.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

AOC took to the Met Gala to deliver a political message. Her white, Brother Vellies-designed gown read "TAX THE RICH" in red, along with a bag with the same statement.

Barbie Ferreira

Euphoria star Barbie Ferreira opted for a pearl-encrusted gown created by Jonathan Simkhai.

CL

CL is one of the first female K-pop stars to attend the Met Gala. The "SPICY" queen tapped her longtime friend Alexander Wang to put together a denim hanbok, which revealed white cotton rib briefs underneath.

Ella Emhoff

Ella Emhoff emphasized comfort in her all-red ensemble created by adidas by Stella McCartney with jewels by Cartier.

Emma Chamberlain

Of course, social media star and coffee fanatic Emma Chamberlain appeared in Louis Vuitton tonight. The influencer channeled her inner Twiggy with retro-inspired glam, accompanying her bedazzled mini dress with cut-out detailing and an asymmetrical hem.

Kim Petras

Kim Petras wore one of the most eye-catching looks of the night with a three-dimensional horse head on a Collina Strada bustier. The piece was accompanied by a panniered skirt in vibrant prints signature to Hillary Taymour.

Lil Nas X


Lil Nas X opted for a total of three outfits for his Met Gala debut. Custom designed by Donatella Versace, the ensemble began with a royal cape, which revealed a metallic gold suit underneath. The rapper completed his dramatic look with a crystal-embellished bodysuit.

Megan Thee Stallion

The Hot Girl channeled old Hollywood and Marilyn Monroe, donning a Coach gown with an asymmetrical, ruffled hem.

Olivia Rodrigo

One of the youngest attendees of the night, the 18-year-old "good 4 u" singer appeared in a sheer lace catsuit by Saint Laurent. The look was complete with black feather detailing.

Rosé of BLACKPINK

Global K-pop group BLACKPINK's Rosé stunned in a chic mini dress designed by Saint Laurent's Anthony Vaccarello, who accompanied her on the red carpet.
