Having presented a nature-inspired menswear range earlier this year, Riccardo Tisci has now returned with the Fall/Winter 2021 womenswear collection for Burberry. Taking place at the house's Regent Street flagship in London, the show featured looks inspired by feminine energy.

"As a single parent, [my mother] raised me and my eight sisters with unfaltering purpose and pride. So, naturally, I have always been drawn to strong women and in turn, they have also given me the confidence to express my own femininity," the creative director explains in a press release. "They are not afraid to challenge expectations and I have always been in such awe of their determination. They are warriors." He further elaborates that this FW21 collection is a "love letter to women."

With a sand beige set serving as the backdrop, British artist Shygirl opens the show with an original spoken-word performance, adding to Tisci's interpretation of modern femininity while encouraging self-expression. On the socially distanced runway, models are dressed in an array of Burberry's signature trench coats, which are crafted with a variety of materials such as faux fur and leather, as well as geometric intarsia motifs. Animal prints are found on fringed dresses, while the cape-sleeved designs boast fluid silhouettes. Elsewhere, the collection is accentuated with gold lamé coats, sequin tops and more.

As for accessories, standouts include oversized messenger bags – an ongoing trend – in faux fur and shearling that take inspiration from nature. Additional highlights feature sporty wraparound eyewear, sculptural heels, stretch tulle sock boots and more.
