The Spring/Summer 2024 edition of Copenhagen Fashion Week has been a cold and rainy one, but that didn't stop Marimekko from bringing its colorful prints to the runway. Led by creative director Rebekka Bay, the Finnish label ventured out from its home in Helsinki for the first time with a collection celebrating the 60th anniversary of its iconic print dubbed "Unikko."

Having showcased its collections each year in open-for-all presentations in Helsinki, Marimekko continued its inclusive approach to fashion, keeping its CPHFW runway available for all to see. Set at Designmuseum Danmark, the show featured the signature "Unikko" motif, which was balanced out with minimalist silhouettes with a touch of utilitarianism. "The print is celebrated in the SS24 collection in more ways than ever, including scale, placement, coloring and techniques," the designer explained in the show's notes, adding her hopes of the colorful print "bringing joy to people's everyday life."

The "Unikko" flowers derived from the '60s were woven into workwear-inspired designs such as washed canvas and heavy cotton-twill separates, while adding a feminine touch on poplin dresses. In true Marimekko style, the color palette was bright and fun with hues of brown, fuchsia pink, tangerine orange, green and more.

The runway was adorned with "Unikko"-shaped installations, while actor and musician Malla Malmivaara performed live music. Scroll through the gallery above to see Marimekko's SS24 collection in full.
