Apparently, 'The Idol' Might Not Return for a Second Season

The Idol, aka the brainchild of Sam Levinson and The Weeknd, reportedly won't be returning for season 2, likely as a result of all the backlash and controversy surrounding the show.

While it's only had two episodes aired so far, responses have been rife with criticism, remarking on the show's uncomfortable and yawn-inducing sex scenes, misogynistic tendencies and damaging portrayals of sexuality, not to mention all the real-life drama that arose during filming. Though The Weeknd has been quick to comment on the backlash, stating that the show's artistic decisions were wholly intentional, it appears that the demand for a follow-up just isn't there.

Despite the fact that fans have loved watching BLACKPINK's Jennie step into her actor era and scouring the internet for Lily-Rose Depp's best, flesh-baring looks, there seems to be little about the series that keeps its viewer wanting more. Little else is known about the decision at this stage (which is still to be confirmed), but we expect to hear more news as the show continues.

In other news, we caught up with Euphoria star Barbie Ferreira to find out more about her latest collaboration.
