Manchester-born designer Maximilian Davis has unveiled his Fall/Winter 2021 collection at London Fashion Week. For his latest range, Davis presented styles that highlight Black elegance.

The designs – inspired by the Sunday best wardrobe of his grandmother, who emigrated from Trinidad to England in 1965 – feature a blend of space-age futurism elements with late '60s and early '70s couture. "That time was so incredible for fashion, and particularly in showcasing strong and powerful women," Davis commented in a press release. "It’s not fair to exclude Blackness from that story – so I wanted to rewrite the narrative."

Models are seen in round-shouldered '60s silhouettes and column skirting, while batwing cuts, balaclavas and scuba goggles add a touch of flair to the overall looks. "It’s the one moment when you really know the Black community would dress up and show off their outfits – in the same way that me and my friends will put on our looks to go to the club," the designer added.

Paying tribute to Caribbean interiors are the luxe velvet devoré fabrics and cracked leather material. Standout pieces include the dropped-waist A-line skirts, resin buckled belts and disco pants paired with unique headwear by Nasir Mazhar. Elsewhere, Maxmilian's signature logo has been screen printed onto denim styles and embroidered onto leathers.
