Demi Lovato Opens Up About 2018 Overdose in New Documentary Trailer

Back in 2018, singer and actress Demi Lovato was rushed to the hospital after a drug overdose. Three years later, the artist has finally opened up on the aftermath of the incident in her upcoming documentary, Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil.

"I've had so much to say over the past two years, wanting to set the record straight about what it was that happened. FYI, I'm just going to say it all," she begins in the trailer, which follows up with clips gathered throughout her childhood and music career. Revealing snippets of interviews with her loved ones including Elton John and Christina Aguilera, she further states that she has had three strokes and a heart attack since. "My doctors said that I had five to 10 more minutes," she adds.

"I was left with brain damage, and I still deal with the effects of that today... I don’t drive a car because I have blind spots in my vision," she shares in a conversation with Associated Press. "For a long time, I had a really hard time reading. It was a big deal when I was able to read a book, which was like two months later, because my vision was so blurry."

This is not the first time Levato has opened up about her struggles to the public. In documentaries released in 2012 and 2017, the star admitted that she was going through issues regarding alcohol and cocaine addictions. "My purpose in putting this out is to help people who have been on the same path as I have," she comments on the upcoming release that was shot for over a year.
