"STOP USING BABY OIL AS LUBE IT MESSES YOUR pH BALANCE," one user responded -- in all caps. Although the delivery was giving tough love, she's right.
As Dr. Laurie Mintz, author of "Becoming Cliterate" shared, "Vaginal lubrication is more nuanced than the media portrays it to be." There are three common types of lubricants: water-based, oil-based and silicone-based. If you're having safe sex with condoms or using toys, opt for water-based or silicone-based lubricants. Why? Well, no one talks about it but oil-based lubricants actually deteriorate latex and silicone over time.
As for baby oil, not only will it disrupt your pH, but as MedicalNewsToday reported: "Using baby oil as a lubricant may increase the risk of infections, STIs, and pregnancy."
