With World Social Media Day on June 30, it's impossible to ignore how integrated TikTok has become in our love lives. From chaotic storytimes to date night GRWM's -- ahem, get ready with me's -- TikTok has become a hub for dating advice and experiences. According to research by the Flirtini dating app, "1 in 4 rely on TikTok as their main source of dating advice," but that might not be the best idea, the apps says.

"Unfortunately, 46% have faced relationship struggles after following TikTok advice," the study revealed, "with 23% suffering a breakup and 10% even a fight." Yet, "1 in 3 believes that overall TikTok advice influenced their love life positively," which might be giving delulu...

To help unpack the stats, Flirtini taps its dating expert, Anastasiya Pochotna, for the tea. "Social media is the new go-to for dating advice because it offers short, digestible snippets of information on just about any topic. Chances are, you will find a so-called expert willing to tell you what you want to hear."

However, that can become tricky as its difficult to check the credibility of such advice. Accessible? Yes. Accurate? It's hard to tell. Pochotna continued "With 46% of people admitting their relationships have worsened after following advice from TikTok, it's clear that many so-called experts may be more focused on profit than genuinely helping others."

So, next time you take TikTok dating advice, make sure you think twice.

While you're here, Gen Z girlies are loving their spicy audio.
