JW Anderson Fall/Winter 2024 collection debuts at Men's Milan Fashion Week -- with an erotic twist.

Erotic thrillers – cue the latest Saltburn – merge society’s two favorite pleasures: sex and art.
JW Anderson’s latest collection thrusts these two realms together, resulting in an Eyes Wide Shut-coded collection.

Stanley Kubrick’s 1999 film starring Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise is undoubtedly an iconic "Christmas" film, that explores hidden desire. According to Jonathan Anderson, founder of JW Anderson, one hidden element in the film drove this entire season.

"I’ve never looked to a film as the starting point before," Anderson stated. "I became obsessed with Christine Kubrick and how she painted most of the artworks in her husband’s film." This discovery led to his July 2023 binge of the film and soon, he met Christine Kubrick, age 91, himself. Christine isn't physically in the film, just her works, which Anderson found intriguing. "I thought there was something interesting in the idea of bringing something into the foreground that ultimately doesn’t want to be there," he said, ultimately birthing FW24.

Of course, the erotic-thriller-inspired collection taps her works directly, and fashion’s current favorite trend, alongside sheerunderwear as outerwear. "Tights offer such an amazing second skin, and they can become a kink," Anderson spoke of his tights over underwear. "For me, it had to be a subversive act. It’s like edging." Also featured this season, underwear as outerwear, but on men.

As Hypebeast editor Dylan Kelly wrote: "Despite the collection’s fearless quirks, much of the line still read highly wearable. That’s the magic of Jonathan Anderson: he’s highly imaginative, but he knows when to pin the final thread."

In other news, luxury lingerie brand Anoeses pens a "Love Note" for Valentine's Day.
