11 Halloween Costumes Inspired by SS25 Runways

Fashion month inspires us in many ways, giving us new trends to try, designers to keep up with and it-girls to follow on Instagram. However, this season, we found fashion month gave us inspiration for something we didn't quite expect: our Halloween costumes. If you think about it enough, it makes perfect sense...

Fashion can be inspired by art, literature, TV and film -- often looking at specific characters and their unique aesthetics. Take LOEWE's Fall/Winter 2024 showcase as an example, tributing the distinctive works of Albert York, which resulted in exaggerated silhouettes adorned with woodland scenes. Similarly, when Emily in Paris star Lucas Bravo made his runway debut for Louis Gabriel Nouchi, it was for a collection inspired by the cult classic American Psycho.

Beyond that, fashion week is a time for designers to go all out with their collections, with makeup and styling, resulting in the ultimate costume inspiration. For SS25, we found inspiration from brands like Skepta's MAINS, who presented a mullet-adorning twist on classic collegiate looks, alongside Natasha Zinko, who explored the dangers of today's cosmetic surgery culture.

MAINS London

There's something about a mullet wig and dark lipstick that just screams Halloween -- we can't explain it. To recreate this MAINS look, all you'd need is a semblance of a school uniform paired with a bit of grungy makeup, a mullet wig and you're good to go.

Balenciaga

Black Swan has always been a go-to for Halloween, but by tributing Balenciaga's SS25 runway show, you'll be sure to give the cult classic a much-needed update. All you'll need is a shiny black dress, worn with some wrap-around glasses (which are pretty much bang on trend right now, so not hard to find) and a slicked-back updo.

Mugler

Sculptural silhouettes plus hair in your face equals an easy Halloween outfit, we don't make the rules. Take inspiration from this artfully-designed Mugler look, which pairs bold shapes with a distinctive wig, resulting in an almost insect-inspired silhouette.

Alexander McQueen

Who said Halloween can't be glamorous? Certainly not Alexander McQueen. This finale look, granted, wouldn't be the easiest to recreate, but there's something to be said about wrapping yourself in silver textures. A DIY attempt might see you take something like old zips and stitch them all over a black gown along with creating a matching headpiece -- but that's just us.

Saint Laurent

In previous years, there have been Men in Black costumes. This year, there will be Bella Hadid in Saint Laurent. Perhaps one of the easiest SS25 looks to recreate, all this look requires is a classy black suit and a pair of oversized frames. Oh, and Bella's cheekbones, we suppose.

VETEMENTS

VETEMENTS is pretty much begging us to recreate this look from its SS25 runway show. No, really. Guram Gvasalia said so himself. Pick your favorite tape, a basic pair of heels and a bandeau dress and you'll be good to go.

Yohji Yamamoto

This Yohji Yamamoto look takes a more traditional Halloween approach if that's your thing. Think messy, backcombed hair and a DIY dress made of varying swathes of fabric, and it's actually a pretty simple but effective one.

AVAVAV

Similarly, AVAVAV's SS25 showcase totally redefined the term "runaway bride" with this look, giving it a spooky twist. To try this look at home, all you'll need is a crop top and leggings covered in bandages, paired with a classic white veil and plenty of fake blood.

Natasha Zinko

Natasha Zinko's SS25 show took inspiration from the world of plastic surgery. Now a staple part of our modern-day aesthetic cocktails, the collection was filled with procedure-inspired looks that wouldn't be out of place at a Halloween party. One of the easiest, perhaps, was this "Who's Your Surgeon" tee, paired with nude hold-ups and a face bandage. Easy peasy, and creepy.

SP5DER

Finally, SP5DER's New York Fashion Week show saw the brand tapping into the current cowhide trend, pairing a cheeky, itty-bitty bikini with a matching coat and furry shoes. For those brave enough, you know what to do.

Coperni

As we know, Halloween costumes don't always have to be scary and Coperni's Disney princess look is a perfect example of that. Who doesn't want to feel like Kylie Jenner at Disneyland? All you'd need is a ballooning ball gown, a pair of matching gloves and an attitude fit for a princess.
