Rising Designer Taqwa Bint Ali Reunites With adidas Originals
info@hypebae.com (Hypebae) Wed, 15 Jan 2025 HypebaeRising designer Taqwa Bint Ali was part of adidas' "Always Original" collective back in 2022. Since then, the designer has rekindled her relationship with the footwear brand, presenting her first official footwear collaboration. Tapping into the re-emergence of the silhouette, the collection includes a new Megaride Mary-Jane sneaker, alongside the Adistar Pose.
Each silhouette removes the classic tongue from the shoe's lacing system, transforming the Mary-Jane with a singular velcro enclosure, while the Adistar Pose comes crafted with an extended set of laces that tie up on the calf. Drawing inspiration from ballet and its functional footwear styles, the shoe designs blend femininity with function, encasing each shoe in a tonal silver colorway. The footwear collection also arrives packaged in premium co-branded boxes for an elevated unboxing experience.

Supporting the release is a stills campaign and a new short film, captured and directed by Ines Manai, with the film starring British model and activist, Deba Hekmat. Speaking about the visuals, Bint says "I wanted my vision for this project to be relatable to all groups of girls, especially in these cities that are so dear to my heart. Thank you all for the trust you've placed in me — I’m truly grateful to have had the chance to work with exceptional women, both in front of and behind the camera, from the shoe design process to the production of the images."
Take a look at the visual campaigns above before both silhouettes launch at Dover Street Market Paris on January 20. The limited-edition silhouettes will then be available for purchase via adidas Originals and Confirmed on January 22.
