Beatrice Domond Brings Her Heritage and Hometown to Vans' New Mary Janes
info@hypebae.com (Hypebae) Tue, 17 Dec 2024 HypebaeMiami-based skateboarder Beatrice Domond isn't just great on her board -- she's also incredible at putting her spin on footwear.
Partnering with Vans, Domond has released her first signature shoe for the footwear brand's OTW label, reimagining the classic Mary Jane silhouette with a skate-ready edge.
The OTW by Vans Mary Jane DS by Beatrice Domond blends timeless style with versatile functionality. Featuring a monochromatic black leather and suede upper, the shoe stands out with its statement outsole and premium goatskin linings. Every detail nods to Domond's story—the sock liner features a map of Haiti, a tribute to her family roots, while the packaging channels vintage Vans skate boxes personalized with her signature and custom logo.
The release is accompanied by a short film co-directed by Domond, her partner Z Inwoon, and director Sandy Kim. Set in her Miami hometown, it explores the skater's bond with her grandmother Elise as they reflect on heritage, identity and the drive that fuels her unique approach to sport and style. More than just a shoe, it's a reflection of Beatrice Domond herself—grounded, thoughtful and unmistakably original.
The new Mary Jane DS is available from December 19 at Vans online. Click the gallery to get a closer look at the shoe.
