These Golden Globes Beauty Looks Just Set the Standard for Award Season

Kaitlyn McLintock  Sun, 07 Jan 2024  Who What Wear

Each January, the Golden Globes kicks off awards season. (If you're unfamiliar or you could use a reminder, I got you. This year's order of awards shows is as follows: Golden Globes, Critic's Choice, Emmys, Grammys, SAG, and finally, the Academy Awards). 2024 Golden Globes nominees include the likes of Margot Robbie, Emma Stone, and Jennifer Lawrence. You know what that means, right? Yep, killer beauty looks.

Since this is the first red carpet event of the new year, it sets the standard for all others that follow. It also sets the standard for beauty trends. Well, actually, it dictates beauty trends. Trust me. All you have to do is watch this one award show to get a pretty good idea of what hair and makeup looks will be *it* for 2024. So, without further ado, keep scrolling to see the 25 best beauty looks from this year's Golden Globes red carpet.

We think all Swifties will agree that Taylor does winged eyeliner better than anyone. The old adage is true even when it comes to the Golden Globes red carpet—if it's not broke, don't fix it.

Selena Gomez glowed on the Golden Globes red carpet with shimmering eyes and matte lips. Must-have beauty products: Living Proof Restore Perfecting Spray ($33) and Living Proof Control Hairspray ($32)

Barbie herself, Margot Robbie, complemented her hot-pink gown with fresh-faced makeup.

We're putting Dua Lipa's "cherry cola" hair color on our 2024 vision boards.

Issa Rae looked like a goddess with her golden eye shadow and glowing complexion.  Must-have beauty products: Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerize in Star Gold ($35); Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerize in Chocolate Bronze ($35) and Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter ($49)

If we could give out an award for best hair, it would go to Rachel Brosnahan and her long, red ribbon. We love it when a celeb incorporates hair accessories into their red-carpet look. Must-have beauty products: SexyHair Healthy Tri-Wheat Leave-In Conditioner ($22); SexyHair Big Root Pump Plus Volumizing Spray Mousse ($23);  Edrée The Méline Titanium Flat Iron Hair Straightener ($139) and Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Beso ($12)

After seeing J.Law walk the Golden Globes red carpet, we want hair extensions.

But then, America Ferrera's sleek bob is making the case for a shorter cut.  Must-have beauty products: Briogeo Superfoods Avocado + Kiwi Moisture Leave-In Conditioner ($25) and Dyson Airwrap Multi-Styler ($600)

Florence Pugh is the queen of edgy red carpet hairstyles.  Must-have beauty products: Virtue Healing Hair Oil ($45) and Virtue 6-in-1 Styling Paste ($40)

Take it from Hailee Steinfeld. A subtle, monochromatic look never fails.

Elizabeth Olsen's pink and red makeup combo was unexpected and eye-catching.

Hunter Schafer's makeup reminds us of springtime with flushed cheeks and petal-pink lips.

Bold, plum-colored eye shadow has never looked so good.

Emma Stone just cosigned the flipped-ends trend for 2024, and we're here for it.  Must-have beauty products: Roz Milk Hair Serum ($52); Roz Santa Lucia Styling Oil ($45); Roz Root Lift Spray ($42); Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin Foundation ($49) and Charlotte Tilbury Glowgasm Face Palette ($75)

When we saw Cailee Spaeny, all we could think about was the TikTok-viral coquette aesthetic.  Must-have beauty products: Kristin Ess Weightless Shine Air Dry Crème ($11); Kristin Ess Style Assist Blow Dry Mist ($15); L'Oréal Paris Infallible 24 Hour Foundation ($13); L'Oréal Paris Infallible Full Wear Waterproof Matte Concealer ($13) and L'Oréal Paris Infallible 24 Hour Fresh Wear Blush in Confident Pink ($13)

Quinta Brunson's glow is unreal—not to mention her full, fluttery lashes.  Must-have beauty products: Kiss Lash Couture Faux Mink Lashes in Little Black Dress ($6) and Kiss Impress Press-On Falsies in Voluminous ($15)

Carey Mulligan is proof that the skin-first trend will continue on into 2024. Her complexion was fresh and dewy and now we feel like we need to reach for a sheet mask...

Elle Fanning is another celeb who opted for classic glamour, combining a swipe of black liquid eyeliner along her upper lash line with a neutral-pink lip color. It's a winning combination. Must-have beauty products: L’Oréal Paris True Match Lumi Glotion in Fair ($14) and L'Oréal Paris Colour Riche Satin Lipstick in Tropical Coral ($7)

Emily Blunt's bronzed makeup look made us feel like summer isn't too far away.

Ariana Greenblatt's sultry look came together with charcoal-lined eyes and tousled hair.

Allison Williams also got the sultry-makeup memo. Her smokey eye and nude lip combo was a modern take on a foolproof 90s formula.

Ayo Edebiri's short and shiny bob feels so fresh and youthful.  Must-have beauty products: Benefit Boi-ing Cakeless Full Coverage Waterproof Liquid Concealer ($27); Benefit Precisely, My Brow Pencil Waterproof Eyebrow Definer ($26); Maui Moisture Frizz-Free + Shea Butter Leave-in Conditioning Mist ($10) and Maui Moisture Lightweight Curls + Flaxseed Edge Control ($8)

Julia Garner's striking silver inner-eye highlight is so good. It's a simple yet effective element.

We loved Gillian Anderson's voluminous, blown-back hairstyle.

This is your sign to wear a 1960s-inspired ponytail to your next event. It feels fresh, yet polished, especially when you add a small black bow to it, like Kate Beckinsale.
