With only four months into 2021, Converse has already teamed up with a number of reputable brands including Carhartt WIP, Off-White™ and COMME des GARÇONS PLAY. Now, the footwear label is set to drop another collaborative collection in partnership with Kim Jones.

"There was an aesthetic that really interested me. It was all the same nerdy things that made people that like the kind of clothes we like see the value," Jones commented on his American mid-century designs for Converse. "I looked at the Japanese designers readapting American sportswear — recreating that '50s and '60s look. Obviously, Converse was the key shoe within all that stuff. Now, I'm just putting it all together in a different way."

Taking the spotlight in the designer's debut Converse range is his own take on the classic Chuck 70 silhouette. "The design approach for the shoe was very straightforward — taking a classic shoe and then almost encasing it in something to protect it," said Jones. Available in two tonal colorways, the sneaker features a 12-ounce canvas upper with a transparent TPU cage and speed lace eyelets. Elsewhere, the outsole comes with an enhanced diamond grid, which provides traction and durability. Rounding out the offering is Jones' branding stamped on the tongue and sock liner.

Accompanying the footwear are four pieces of garments such as a parka, crewneck sweatshirt, cargo pant and T-shirt. Standouts include the parka made from a blend of nylon and mesh material, which also boasts a hood, bungee closure, Velcro cuffs and rear Velcro venting. The pant is crafted from cotton and sports mesh elements throughout, while the crewneck features brushed-back terry cotton and herringbone trimming.

Take a closer look at what to expect below. Kim Jones x Converse's collection will be available on April 8 via Converse's website and at select global retailers.
