As brands like Levi's and Apple honor Black History Month with new initiatives, Vans has unveiled its latest project that highlights four rising Black artists. In partnership with the creatives, the Californian label has reworked its classic Authentic and Slip-On silhouettes.

The roster features Rewina Beshue, a contemporary artist who focuses on multimedia, painting, printmaking and graphic design; Sydney G. James, a Detroit-based fine artist and muralist; Christopher Martin, a multidisciplinary artist exploring the African Diaspora; and Tony Whlgn, a visual artist who works with unconventional mediums.

Every week this February, Vans is spotlighting each of the talents, featuring their story and work as their sneaker designs are released. In addition to the project, the brand is donating $40,000 USD to the Black Arts Future Fund to contribute to the future of Black arts and culture. It has also relaunched its "Foot The Bill" initiative, which supports small businesses that have been hit throughout the pandemic.

"As we live our purpose to enable creative expression, we are proud to partner with each artist to uplift and amplify their voices during Black History Month and beyond," Vans' VP of Marketing Carly Gomez shares on the project. Beshue adds: "It brings me absolute joy to use my art to uplift Black art communities. It is important to use my platform to amplify positivity in Black communities through art and creativity."
