I Ordered 32 Fashion Items on Amazon Over the Past Year—These 15 Were the Best

Over the course of the past year, I've been ordering fashion items on Amazon, taking photos in them, and writing reviews. You may have seen some of them, but if not, the good news is that I've put together a handy guide of the pieces I thought were the very best, based on my first-hand experience.

If you're into good affordable basics that will arrive at your doorstep in two days or less, you're in luck. The majority of the items I ordered from Amazon to review are basics. Truth be told, I wasn't in love with every single item (c'est la vie), so for the purpose of this story, I left those out and only included the ones that really stood out and that I think you'll love too.

Since I've been doing these reviews for all four seasons of the year, my favorites are a mixed bag of items ranging from silky shorts to cozy fleeces. And since Amazon keeps many of their brand's basics for every season stocked year-round, if you're in the mood to buy that cozy fleece, you can certainly do so.

My review: I love a smocked midi dress, so I ordered this immediately when I saw it. Smart move on my part. It's very comfortable and is the perfect type of dress to wear with sneakers. It comes in tons of colors and prints, but I thought this one looked the most expensive. 

My review: I don't often wear maxi dresses (mainly because I'm short and they tend to swallow me), but I liked the midi version of this dress so much that I gave it a shot. I was pleased to find that it wasn't too long, and the ruched bodice balanced out all the fabric on the bottom. I probably could've gone down a size (for reference, I'm wearing a small), but the straps are adjustable, so I made it work.

My review: The fun thing about this top is that it looks as though it could be silk or something but it's actually a soft, lightweight knit fabric. It's great for those days when you want to wear something easy with jeans that's prettier than a T-shirt.

My review: Square necks for the win, always. I went down a size in this so that I'd get that cool '90s fitted look, and I'm glad I did. It's so simple yet so chic when tucked into a pair of jeans.

My review: This jacket fits so well, it's no wonder it's such a hit, with nearly five stars and 1000 reviews. A T-shirt fits comfortably underneath it (for reference, I'm wearing size 2), and it's the perfect weight for spring and fall. 

My review: This sweatshirt/T-shirt hybrid was one of my favorite pieces of the bunch. It's so comfortable and I love the fit and the fact that it's thin enough to tuck in if you're so inclined. It looks great with skinny jeans, as you can see.

My Review: The first thing that struck me when I unboxed this ribbed knit top was that it was surprisingly thick and warm. I was happy about this because I don't like fitted tops that are too thin and clingy. With its balloon sleeves and square neck, this definitely falls under the "trendy basics" category, which I'm never opposed to. I ordered a size small in the top, which is my usual size, and I was happy with the fit. If you want something more formfitting, definitely go down a size, but it was the perfect amount of formfitting for me and tucked in nicely. (Please excuse the dramatic posing below—I just wanted to show off the fun sleeves.)

My review: This shirt could certainly pass as a basic, but I found that the oversize fit and pink accents contribute to its trendiness as well. The fit of this shirt is pretty much perfect, and it's nice and lightweight—ideal for summer. (Pro tip: Try it as a swimsuit cover-up.)

My review: The material of this hoodie is so soft and cozy without being bulky in the least. I enjoyed the knot detail at the front, and the fit was good. Paired with some cute house shoes, it's perfect for a WFH day. 

My Review: You wouldn't really know by looking at the picture on the model, but this fleece pullover (I'm wearing a size small) is surprisingly thick and cozy. In fact, I would recommend it as more of a jacket than a sweatshirt for indoors. The fleece has a nice, full texture and I found it to look very well-made and not as bulky as I thought it would be upon taking it out of the package. My only complaint would be that instead of being lined with the fleece material, it has a polyester lining that isn't quite as nice, but it's not a dealbreaker.

My review: These silky shorts are more elevated than sweatshorts but are equally as comfortable. The length is perfect (for reference, I'm 5'4"), and they're machine washable (yay).

My review: I found this cropped, slightly fitted hoodie to be particularly easy to dress up or down, given that it's not as sloppy as some. It's just a good, easy hoodie that I'm sure I'll wear over and over.

My review: Designer denim is expensive for a reason—it's made with quality materials and is expertly stitched. With that in mind, it's understandable that affordable denim can be hit-or-miss. But hoping for a hit, I took the plunge and ordered this pair (in a size 26, for reference). I liked that they were slightly loose on the model. They were closer to a pair of skinny jeans on me, so if I were to order them again, I think I'd go up a size for a more relaxed fit. They're quite stretchy (and comfortable), but in the several hours that I wore them, they didn't stretch out all that much. My verdict is that I'd recommend, but go up a size if you want a fit similar to how they look on the model.

My Review: I love a good puffer, and in this, I found a fancy puffer. First of all, I was very impressed by how expensive-looking the jacket was, especially for $48. The material is nice and smooth and matte and it doesn't wrinkle at all. I haven't worn it out in the frigid air yet, but I could tell that it'll keep you warm, but maybe not on the coldest of cold days. The tie around the waist was definitely a nice touch, especially if you're of the thinking that puffers aren't usually particularly flattering. (I experimented with tying it in the front and the back, but preferred the front ultimately.) While I had wanted the black jacket, it was sold out in a size small when I placed my order, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked the navy one, as I found that it looks better in person than it does on the site.

My review: Second-skin tops may have risen to fame this past fall and winter, but you can still wear them well into spring, especially this pretty watercolor one. The turtleneck is fitted without being extremely tight, and the material is quite soft. I love this as a layering piece under a light jacket or blazer.
