Instagram's Chronological Feed Is Back
info@hypebae.com (HYPEBAE) Wed, 05 Jan 2022 HYPEBAELast month, Instagram announced that it would be bringing back its chronological feed. Before the social media app officially rolls out the function worldwide, the feature is now being tested out in select regions.
“We think it’s important that you can get to a chronological feed, if you’re interested, quickly and see the latest that has been posted by the accounts that you follow,” the company's CEO Adam Mosseri said on Twitter. The update allows users to choose between chronological and algorithm-based orders. Over the next few months, you will have the option to switch between three different feeds: Home, Favorites and Following.
Home will stick to how the current feed works, while Favorites will show a "list of accounts that [they] want to make sure [they] don’t miss things from," Mosseri shared. Following will organize posts in standard chronological order for other profiles that users follow.
The “full experience” will be available in the "first half of this year," so be sure to keep an eye out for the app's update.
Testing Feed Changes ?
We’re starting to test the ability to switch between three different views on your home screen (two of which would give you the option to see posts in chronological order):
- Home
- Favorites
- FollowingWe hope to launch these soon. More to come. ✌? pic.twitter.com/9zvB85aPSp

We want people to have meaningful control over their experience. We’ve been experimenting with Favorites, a way for you to decide whose posts you want to see higher up, and we’re working on another option to see posts from people you follow in chronological order.
