Apple Tweaks AirTag's Privacy Measures To Avoid Stalking

Back in April, Apple unveiled the AirTag, the company's very-own Bluetooth tracking device. However, since its release last month, users have raised privacy and stalking concerns of the product.

According to CNET, Apple has updated its AirTag's sensors, "changing the time they play an alert when separated from their owner." Previously, the device sent out an alert three days after, which made it easy to follow Android users as their phones don't receive any notifications if an unknown AirTag is following them. With the new modifications, the AirTag will play at a random time "inside a window that lasts between eight and 24 hours."

Additionally, Apple is set to roll out an Android app to help people "detect" an AirTag or Find My network-enabled device that may be stalking them. "The recent introduction of AirTag included industry-first proactive features that discourage unwanted tracking," Apple explained in a statement.

Apple has already begun rolling out updates to its AirTags, while the Android app will launch sometime this year.
