As Netflix continues to dominate the world of streaming, reports are suggesting that the company is looking to expand into the gaming industry. Although yet to be confirmed, the news would not come as a big surprise considering the rise in video games throughout the pandemic.

The streaming giant has reportedly been recruiting a head executive to lead its new video game division. As shared by The Information, the company has been in touch with "veteran game industry executives" for the new position.

"Our members value the variety and quality of our content. It’s why we’ve continually expanded our offering… So we’re excited to do more with interactive entertainment," Netflix told Polygon in a statement. Rumors suggest that the company is looking to start a "bundle" video game service.

For those unfamiliar, Netflix is no stranger to creating interactive content, as seen through the video game-like title Black Mirror: Bandersnatch in 2018. Last year, the streaming giant experimented with a similar format for an episode of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

Stay tuned as we learn more about Netflix's expansion into gaming.
