The Weeknd Drops Anticipated Single, "Take My Breath"

UPDATE (August 6, 2021): Shortly after a series of teasers revealed in a promo video for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, The Weeknd has finally dropped his new single titled "Take My Breath."

The musician's new project was initially announced in his GQ cover story. Dropping a few hints in the interview, the star followed up with short videos showcasing snippets of the sonically charged track. In the accompanying music video, Abel's silhouette appears as the sun rises in the background. "Take my breath away/And make it last forever, babe/Do it now or never, babe/Take my breath away/Nobody does it better, babe," he sings as he dances in a club.

ORIGINAL STORY (August 3, 2021): Following a visual teaser, The Weeknd has now announced his upcoming single titled "Take My Breath."

Shared on the musician's social media channels, a minute-long clip opens with the title of the song followed by special appearances from Team USA’s Tokyo Olympic track stars Sydney McLaughlin, Dalilah Muhammad, Athing Mu and Gabby Thomas. In the video, the athletes celebrate each other: "When I hear the name Sydney McLaughlin, I think competitor," Muhammad says.

Prior to revealing this teaser, The Weeknd wiped his Instagram account, dedicating the platform to promote his upcoming release. Watch the full teaser down below. "Take My Breath" will drop on August 6.
