Mattel Honors Aaliyah With Custom Barbie Doll -- And Its Already Sold Out

Late singer, Aaliyah Houghton, receives an iconic birthday present from Mattel's Barbie.
On January 16, the renowned brand announced the release of the "Barbie Signature Aaliyah 11.5" collectible doll. Styled in her signature statement pants and tiny top, the Brooklyn-born artist is immortalized in her leather look from the "One In A Million" music video.
The Princess of R&B has been almost immortalized through fashion and art communities, and Mattel's latest honor proves her impact continues. The doll was available for $55.99 USD as a pre-order, however, it quickly sold out. Mattel has yet to share updates on a restock. The collectible is being sold directly through Mattel and Target.
Mattel shares, "Barbie honors Aaliyah, the Princess of R&B with a Barbie doll in her likeness. Aaliyah helped redefine contemporary hip hop and R&B by combining soft, melodic vocals with powerful beats -- a lyrical sound she dubbed 'street to sweet.'
