Rumors that Jennie Kim was due to leave BLACKPINK began surfacing online earlier this year, primarily through the Chinese social media platform, Weibo, but it's since been confirmed that she along with the other three members of the K-pop group has officially renewed their contracts as a group, with YG Entertainment.

In a statement shared by the company, it was revealed that "an exclusive contract for group activities based on strong trust" has been signed. According to BBC, the new contract is set to be one of the most lucrative to be signed by any music group in 2023.

Initially, posts on Weibo suggested that Jennie would soon be terminating her contract with YG Entertainment, with one user stating "Based on the latest reliable source, Jennie will terminate her contract with YG Entertainment after the Encore concerts."

Additional posts began to surface, leading to the news going viral on the site, with fans suggesting that Jennie's recent stage performances were not on par with her usual appearances. The rumors began not long after Jennie made her acting debut in HBO's The Idol, alongside releasing her first collection with Calvin Klein and seemingly joining the MCU, plus most recently: joining Dua Lipa on an episode of her podcast.

In related news, BTS just released their first book, BEYOND THE STORY.
