BTS' RM Drops Solo Album, 'Indigo'

UPDATE (December 2, 2022): BTS member RM has finally released his anticipated solo album Indigo.

The K-pop star follows in the footsteps of his bandmates J-Hope and Jin, who have released solo projects over the past few months after HYBE Corporation announced that the septet would go on an indefinite hiatus.

Comprised of 10 tracks, Indigo features collaborations with unexpected names, such as Mahalia, Erykah Badu, Anderson .Paak, Tablo of Epik High, HONNE and more. The record was released alongside a music video for the lead track "Wild Flower" which features youjeen.

A press release explains that Indigo is a record of RM's 20s and "a candid introduction of who RM truly is." The title takes inspiration from RM's love for anything natural, while the color additionally indicates changes in thoughts the musician has experienced. The cover of the album features the indigo color in a denim-like feel with "Blue," an artwork by the late Korean painter Yun Hyong-keun.

ORIGINAL STORY (November 25, 2022): Earlier this month, BTS member RM announced the release of his upcoming solo album Indigo. Just a week ahead of the drop, the K-pop musician shared the full tracklist featuring unexpected names.

Comprised of 10 tracks, Indigo features artists from both in and out of the K-pop scene. The list begins with "Yun" a song produced by RM himself with sounds from Erykah Badu. The musician is additionally teaming up with Anderson .Paak on "Still Life," followed by "All Day" with rapper Tablo from Epik High. Other notable names on the tracklist include Mahalia and Paul Blanco on "Closer," which is produced by HONNE -- the English electronic music duo loved for their tracks "Day 1" and "no song without you."

Aside from his upcoming album, RM is also working with Pharrell Williams on the Humanrance founder's new record Phriends. Taking the cover of Rolling Stone together with the Korean star, Williams shared, "I’m actually talking about this way more than I’m supposed to, but it’s a song from my album that [BTS] sang and it’s amazing, and I’m super grateful."

RM is the latest BTS member to release a solo project, following in the footsteps of Jin with "The Astronaut," Jungkook with "Dreamers" for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and J-Hope with Jack in the Box.

Indigo by RM drops on December 2.
