Lucila Safdie's "Farewell Princess" Collection Tributes Hollywood's Golden Era

London-based designer Lucila Safdie just debuted her new Spring/Summer 2025 collection, "Farewell Princess." Referencing the New York Post headline reporting on the untimely death of Princess Grace Kelly, the collection looks to the women who ruled Hollywood's "Golden Era" as inspiration.

Exploring their glamorous yet tragic lives, the SS25 collection continues to explore the complexities of coming-of-age and the juxtapositions we face. Looking at inspiring women like Marilyn Monroe, Jean Harlow and Elizabeth Taylor, the collection campaign follows a protagonist "caught up in the frenzy of fame and beauty."

In keeping with Safdie's signature aesthetic, the SS25 collection imagery evokes a sense of girlish innocence, tapping into that childlike feeling of just wanting to grow up. Exemplified through mature tweeds and monograms, paired with lace-hemmed mini skirts and hotpants, the collection includes "undone" tailoring, visible hosiery and negligée inspired baby doll dresses.

Adding to the juxtaposing themes are two new prints, a gothic wallpaper-inspired style and a custom bird print, in a nod to Alfred Hitchcock's "damsels in distress" trope.

In other campaign news, Taylor Russell is a vision for LOEWE.
