Buckingham Palace has announced that Queen Elizabeth II tested for COVID-19.

The 95-year-old is currently experiencing "mild cold-like symptoms" but will continue to carry out light duties this week. "She will continue to receive medical attention and will follow all appropriate guidelines," the statement read. According to reports, the Queen -- who is fully vaccinated -- had been in contact with the Prince of Wales the week he had COVID-19. More cases have been reported in Windsor Castle.

Following the news, prime minister Boris Johnson took to social media to wish the Queen a fast recovery. "I’m sure I speak for everyone in wishing Her Majesty The Queen a swift recovery from Covid and a rapid return to vibrant good health," he wrote.

The diagnosis comes shortly after the Queen celebrated her 70th year on the throne.
