Sydney Sweeney Questions Nudity Double Standards in Hollywood

Sydney Sweeney, the 24-year-old actor who plays Cassie on Euphoria, has rightfully been using the show to draw attention to concerns about Hollywood. Last month, she discussed the double standard of nudity within the industry in an interview with The Independent. Now, in her latest WSJ. Magazine profile, she shared that she hasn't received any support or backing from other actors since speaking out against the issue.

“When a guy has a sex scene or shows his body, he still wins awards and gets praise," Sweeney told The Independent at the time. "But the moment a girl does it, it’s completely different.”

Reflecting on her words, Sweeney said to WSJ. Magazine, “I think it’s a conversation that needs to be had, and I have no problem doing the scenes, especially when meant for the character and if it’s important to the character’s story. It’s such an interesting question -- that no one has actually reached out, and now I’m like, what?”

Unfortunately, this lack of support from within the industry wasn't an isolated event. The actor has even struggled to be credited for work that's owned by her company. "I was told I have to do multiple things before I can get a credit like that, as if I didn't deserve it. And that came from women," she told Cosmopolitan. "I found that very surprising. Everyone puts on the charade that we're supporting each other, but I have not felt that fully yet."
