Ghislaine Maxwell Found Guilty of Sex Trafficking an Underage Girl

Following her arrest last year, Ghislaine Maxwell has officially been found guilty of helping and taking part in the late American financier Jefferey Epstein's sexual abuse of minors.

According to BBCthe British socialite is facing five out of six charges, which was finalized in New York over the course of five days in court by a 12-person jury. Maxwell felonies include "sex trafficking of a minor," "transporting a minor with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity," "conspiracy to transport minors with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity," "conspiracy to entice minors to travel to engage in illegal sex acts," and "conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of minors." As a result, Maxwell has been sentenced to a total of 65 years in prison. She was not found guilty of "enticement of a minor to travel to engage in illegal sex acts."

"Justice takes the lead today," Teresa Helm, one of Epstein's accusers, said. "I am consumed with gratitude for every brave, courageous and justice driven person that has fought for this outcome." As her verdict was being read out loud, Maxwell "showed no visible sign of emotion," as per BBC.
