Shortly after announcing her return to the Tokyo Olympics, 24-year-old gymnast Simone Biles won the bronze medal in the balance beam final.

This is the first time Biles competed in the Games since withdrawing from the team and individual events last week due to mental health concerns. Her latest win marks her seventh Olympic medal and ties her with former Team USA gymnast, Shannon Miller.

Biles earned 6.1 points for routine difficulty and 7.9 for execution, making that a total of 14.0. China’s Guan Chenchen took home the gold with a score of 14.633.

"It meant the world to be out there," Biles told USA Today. "I wasn’t expecting to walk away with a medal. I was doing this for me, and whatever happens, happens."

USA Gymnastics took to Twitter to congratulate Biles and said: “Leading by example. Simone Biles closed the show with a [bronze medal] at the Balance Beam Final today!"
