Britney Spears has finally been given the choice by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge to hire her own lawyer in her ongoing battle over her conservatorship helmed by her father, Jamie Spears.

During a court hearing earlier today, the singer vented out her frustration over the phone pleading that she wants her father removed as her main conservator. "I want to press charges against my father today," Britney said while breaking down in tears. "I want an investigation into my dad." After being granted her own attorney, CNN reported that the pop star has "retained former federal prosecutor Mathew Rosengart, a veteran entertainment litigator who was in attendance at Wednesday's hearing, to be her new counsel."

Samuel D. Ingham was Britney's previous court-appointed lawyer since the start of her conservatorship in 2008. However, after being criticized for his representation, Ingham decided to resign last week. Wealth management company Bessemer Trust, the co-conservator of Spears' estate, has also resigned. As a result, Jamie is the sole conservator of his daughter's finances.

Moments ago, the artist took to Instagram to share her bliss through videos of her horseback riding and doing cartwheels, along with the caption: "Coming along, folks ... coming along. New with real representation today ... I feel gratitude and blessed." She continued: "Thank you to my fans who are supporting me ... You have no idea what it means to me be supported by such awesome fans. God bless you all!"

With all that being said, Britney demands the conservatorship to end only if it doesn't require her to take a mental evaluation or test. Stay tuned as we learn more about the case.
