Singer Katy Perry joined a women-only crew for the first Blue Origin flight to space... well, the edge of it, at least. Ahead of the launch, she shared her nervousness to touch the literal edge of the Earth but was reassured by several signs from her family. Perry took flight alongside renowned journalists, Gayle King and Lauren Sánchez. Sánchez notoriously married billionaire Jeff Bezos. Although the space entrance was random, Perry raised the bar with a... performance.

Yes, you read that correctly. Although the flight was only 11 minutes, Perry hit a solo mid-flight to "What a Wonderful World." King said: "The best part was when we got back in our seats after zero Gs, Katy sang 'What a Wonderful World.'"

She was asked to sing one of her songs mid-air and rejected. "It's about a collective energy in there. It's about us. It's about making space for future women and taking up space and belonging and it's about this wonderful world that we see right out there and appreciating it," Perry said. "This is all for the benefit of Earth."

Perry and King both expressed excitement with Perry kissing the ground when she exited the aircraft. However, U.S. based fans could care less. Author and model, Emily Ratajkowski, shared her honest thoughts via TikTok.

"That space mission this morning? That’s end-time shit. Like, this is beyond parody. Saying that you care about Mother Earth and it’s about Mother Earth, and you’re going up in a spaceship that is built and paid for by a company that’s single-handedly destroying the planet?"

Ratajkowski continued, "Look at the state of the world and think about how many resources went into putting these women into space. For what? What was the marketing there?" She closed: "I’m disgusted. Literally, I’m disgusted."

In other news, fans are thanking Olympian Suni Lee for this NBA win. Here's why.
