Rihanna-approved, London-based designer Jawara Alleyne is hosting a pop-up event at the time of this year's Notting Hill Carnival, teaming up with esteemed artist Alvaro Barrington.

Taking place on August 24 for one day only, the pop-up will offer a selection of pieces from "GRACE," inspired by Alleyne's work with Barrington at the Tate, plus pieces from the duo's recent collaboration. The carnival pop-up will also feature a selection of capsule edits from Alleyne's "Untitled" collection.

For both creatives, the collaborative pop-up aims to highlight the importance of Carnival and reiterate the fact that it's more than just a street party. For Alleyne and Barrington, this celebration of Black people and culture is an act of rebellion and one that builds community and resilience.

The pop-up also acts as an evolution of the relationship between artist and designer, one that began when Barrington hosted Alleyne's Spring/Summer 2024 runway show at his East London studio. Within his work, Barrington explores the "space that Black bodies occupy in the public sphere," while Alleyne looks at the relationship between Black bodies and fashion.

Take a look at some of the pieces above and head to Barrington's HQ on August 24 for more.
