To tie in with Transgender Day of Visibility, GLAAD has released an open letter in support of transgender women and girls. The non-governmental organization's initiative has been signed by more than 465 feminist leaders including some influential names in entertainment, music, fashion and more.

In the wake of the recent attacks against the transgender community, the letter highlights the solidarity between cisgender women, transgender women and feminist allies, which was put together by GLAAD and writer-activist Raquel Willis. The signatories include Regina King, Selena Gomez, Laverne Cox, Halle Berry, Bella Hadid, Janelle Monáe and Anna Wintour as well as activists and women’s rights groups like Gloria Steinem and Planned Parenthood.

"We all must fight against the unnecessary and unethical barriers placed on trans women and girls by lawmakers and those who co-opt the feminist label in the name of division and hatred," the letter states. "Our feminism must be unapologetically expansive so that we can leave the door open for future generations."
