Berlin's Famous Berghain Nightclub Could Be Closing Permanently by the End of 2022

Berghain, the Berlin nightclub famously known for its strict door policy and exclusivity, might be closing by the end of 2022.

The legendary institute has been open since 2004, serving as a space for creatives with its pivot into the art space during the peak of the pandemic. Due to COVID-19 and related restrictions, Berghain used its venue as an art gallery open to the public.

The rumors come after the nightclub's in-house record label and booking agency Ostgut Ton unexpectedly closed earlier this month. As reported by Faze Magazine, inside sources have shared that Berghain will be closing later this year, despite the world mostly reopening since the pandemic first broke out in 2020.

“The Berghain is closing forever – the final end will come this year," a source shared, while another added: "One of the founders has already been paid out and is said to be staying in the countryside in Brandenburg. The others simply ‘don’t feel like it’ anymore and have other life plans in mind." The source noted that there will be no other variations of Berghain following its closure.

Nothing official has been announced as of writing so stay tuned as we learn more.
