The Traditional Smokey Eye Has Been Reimagined Into "Greased Lids"

There is more than one way to achieve a smokey eye makeup look and makeup artist Jo Baker has introduced our caboodles to another stunning trend to try for the holiday season. Meet "Greased lids."

Greased lids are the new garage glam way to do your eye makeup, and it's set to be a stunner for 2023. Baker served Olivia Wilde this look, dubbing the moment "greased lids." Of course, being one of the poster women for lived-in and Indie sleaze glam, the star pulled it off effortlessly. What makes this look "greased" is the clear lip balm or vaseline she used on Wilde. However, make sure to distinguish the style from glossy lids. You'll want to drag a soft black kohl pencil and blend it out with an eyeshadow brush before it sets. If you're feeling extra sultry, apply and blend along your lower lash line and waterline as well and in the center of the eyelid, apply the 'grease."

"Greased lids" is all about having fun, so any mess up's or imperfections while creating the look is okay. Embrace the messiness.
