2023 is on the horizon and we're taking stock of all of the makeup trends of 2022 we've tried and loved and the ones we didn't care for as much. In our first full year in a post-pandemic world (somewhat) those no denying that there have been a few viral trends and tries that have been quite interesting — but there are some that shouldn't have seen the light of a face.

For many, the new year is a fresh start and for beauty enthusiasts, why not take this time to leave behind those unsightly glam practices that simply don't look good. Trust me, this beauty editor wouldn't dare steer you wrong, so take it from me. Here's our list of eyebrow-raising trends that need to stay where they are in 2022.

This look came later in the year, but let's leave it be. It was cute for Halloween, but only then. The obsession with vampy skin, specifically the characters from Twilight needs to end. Glitter and shimmer are fun, but there is no need for glitter in your foundation.

Lubricant As Primer

First of all, no. This was a terrible idea. Lube can be meant for many other wonderful things, but do you need to base your skin with lube like you're a Christmas turkey? Heavens no.

Shaved/'90s Brows

Collectively we have an affinity for the beauty trends of the '90s, and rightfully so — but all good things must come to an end. The tea is that it could take weeks or months for your brows to grow completely back and the older you get the slower the hair grows back and it's honestly not worth the trouble. Take it from someone that still suffers from over-plucked brows from my experimental college years.
