The Crocs EXP Terre Is the Newest Mary Jane Hybrid To Hit the Market
info@hypebae.com (Hypebae) Fri, 04 Apr 2025 HypebaeIt's no secret that Mary Janes are having a moment, and in the last few months alone, we've seen new versions from UGG, PUMA and Onitsuka Tiger. The latest brand to enter the MJ space is Crocs, launching its brand-new EXP Terre silhouette.
Described by the brand as "a ballet flat built for the wild at heart," the new release boasts a delicate form, true to Crocs' comfort-oriented ethos, and arrives in two core colorways. The first is a sweet pink, white and silver iteration, complete with a chunky sole and debossed Crocs branding on the heel. The second colorway features a classic black sole and upper with the same silver detailing and a grey lining.
Speaking about the desire to create the silhouette, Michael Sarantakos, Sr. Director, Global Design at Crocs, told us: "We're constantly tuned into consumer trends and insights, allowing us to shape our product strategies with precision. When creating the Terre, our goal was to introduce a more overtly feminine design to our EXP category. While the shoe has some Mary Jane influences, its true foundation is inspired by silhouettes from the Crocs archive and rooted in the EXP philosophy—pushing boundaries and embracing innovation to explore new possibilities in design.
In terms of why the Mary Jane has had such a resurgence of late, Sarantakos adds, "The Mary Jane style has made a strong comeback because it merges nostalgia with modernity and comfort. What’s exciting from a design perspective is how the style can be reimagined with new materials and details, creating an almost entirely new silhouette with a similar design DNA."
