Axel Arigato's Newest Release Proves That Skinny Sneakers Are Here to Stay
info@hypebae.com (Hypebae) Wed, 26 Mar 2025 HypebaeMusical chairs might be a phrase you've heard a lot recently, primarily in the context of the luxury creative director shakeup that continues to dominate conversations. However, Axel Arigato is taking the game back to its innocent roots with its latest campaign, debuting the new Slow Runner silhouette.
Captured by photographer Linus Morales and conceptualized by creative director Jens Werner, the new campaign looks to evoke a sense of childhood nostalgia, tapping into themes of playfulness and shared memories. Acting as a backdrop for the campaign are six custom-made brown suede chairs inspired by paddle horses and impact cushions, bringing Werner's unique approach to design to the forefront.
The sneaker itself boasts a low-profile design, the first of its kind from Axel Arigato, and features a flat outsole, layered panelling and exposed zig-zag stitching. Its upper is a mixture of leather, suede and nubuck, complete with a thin gum sole unit. Taking inspiration from both Axel Arigato's ready-to-wear collections and the current trend of sport-inspired silhouettes, the new Slow Runner is the perfect option for sneaker minimalists, available in classic black and cream colorways.
