Chanel is indulging our post-pandemic fantasies of group gatherings and family soirees with its Spring/Summer 2021 Haute Couture collection, a 32-look range that imagines a bohemian wedding held in the French countryside. "I love big family reunions, when the generations all come together," Creative Director Virginie Viard explained of the collection. "There’s this spirit at Chanel today. Because Chanel is also like a family."

In line with Viard's homage to family, older generations were represented by Chanel's signature tweed suiting, arriving in the form of spring-ready vests paired with relaxed trousers, as well as more traditional tailored jacket and skirt sets. For the younger crowd, a sequined black mini-dress with a tulle flounce at the rear looked like something a rebellious teen might wear to her first party. For everyone in between, billowing tulle skirts and tiered lace frocks made for festive silhouettes. A show-stopping finale presented the bride, resplendent in a silk mandarin collar gown embellished with crystal and pearl-studded butterflies. A floor-sweeping veil encrusted with jewels finished off the closing look.
