Balenciaga Wins Paris Fashion Week With 'The Simpsons'
info@hypebae.com (HYPEBAE) Sun, 03 Oct 2021 HYPEBAEBalenciaga has become one of the hottest topics of Paris Fashion Week with Demna Gvasalia showcasing his Spring/Summer 2022 collection through an unexpected episode of The Simpsons.
The designer is no stranger to bold experimentations when it comes to collection presentations, as seen through his apocalyptic runway and the house's very own video game. Opting for an animated show this time around, the creative director premiered a one-off episode starring the residents of Springfield.
The 10-minute video shows Homer Simpson writing a letter to Gvasalia to gift an expensive gown to his wife Marge for her birthday. Touched by her love for Balenciaga, the designer invites the entire town to Paris to walk his fashion show. Anna Wintour is recreated as an animated character sitting at the front row watching popular names like Moe the Bartender and Smithers.
In addition to the animation, Balenciaga invited celebrities, friends, atelier staff and more to pose on a red carpet wearing the season's new looks. Gvasalia himself wore head-to-toe black (like he did at the recent Met Gala with Kim Kardashian) alongside names like Elliot Page, Offset, Isabelle Huppert and more.
