Indian label péro is joining in with Hello Kitty's 50th anniversary celebrations, launching a new collaboration for Spring/Summer 2025.

Inspired by the shared ethos of both brands, centering around human connection, love and being nice, the collaboration aims to celebrate "the nicest and most joyful things." Building on the signature Sanrio character's motifs, like cherries, apples, creamy cupcakes and milk cartons, the collection reimagines them through péro's distinctive design language and textile techniques.

"I am so happy to celebrate péro's 15th anniversary with this special collaboration with Sanrio on the occasion of Hello Kitty's 50th anniversary. This collection is a celebration of our collective childhood nostalgia that is reinterpreted in our own whimsical style -- a mix of exquisite Indian craftsmanship with the playfulness of Japanese Harajuku Street style," says péro founder Aneeth Arora.

Merging Indian craftsmanship with a shared love of nostalgia, the collection includes shirts, trousers, dresses, skirts and jackets, complete with Hello Kitty charms, socks, bags, hats and rumals (handkerchiefs.) Through a new concept, one the brands have dubbed "Cottagecore Kawaii," the partnership merges Calcutta cottagecore with Harajuku street style.

Realized through dainty Japanese flora, sailor stripes, origami, tassels, hand-crocheted fabrics and embroidered beading, the collection also leans on traditional fabrics like "Chanderi" from Madhya Pradesh alongside "Mashru" from Gujarat and classics like gabardine, taffeta and linen -- each sourced from southern India.
