Bottega Veneta's new range of jewelry has become the subject of online ridicule. Shoppers are mocking the Italian brand for its recently released necklaces, bracelets and earrings -- priced between $800 and $2,000 USD -- that are shaped like landline telephone cords.

Infamous fashion watchdog Diet Prada posted a side-by-side comparison of pastel-colored phone cords sold on eBay for $5 USD and Bottega Veneta's necklace, which rings up at $2,000 USD. "Bottega is the new Vetements," the caption reads. Hundreds of Instagram users quickly commented with their own takes on the pricey jewelry. "Who the hell is gonna buy this, gen Zers who have never experienced a landline?" one person wrote, while another pointed out that many designers and artisans manage to charge far less than $2,000 USD for hand-crafted items.

Take a look at Bottega Veneta's phone cord jewelry, available at the Bottega Veneta website, above.
