Channel Your Inner Farmer With Balenciaga's Virtual Agriculture Experience

info@hypebae.com (Hypebae)  Tue, 25 Apr 2023  Hypebae

Continuing its dedication to raising awareness about regenerative agriculture, Balenciaga launched an all-new augmented reality experience.

Users can access the experience from any smart device, enabling them to farm crops in augmented reality using techniques and tools which -- when translated to actual reality -- can directly improve the health of the soil around us. The experience allows its user to choose a dedicated farmer and lead them around virtual landmarks, all with the aim of growing successful harvests. Users will learn about the significance of crop rotation, composting and agricultural waste, in a bid to increase awareness.

Alongside the virtual experience, Balenciaga plans to invest in eDNA, a groundbreaking technology which seeks to measure and monitor levels of biodiversity in the environment, by detecting traces of DNA. As a result, eDNA's data helps corporations, landowners and farmers to visualize a more accurate picture of the health of their ecosystems.

Overall, the project aims to restore the ecological balance of the Occitanie region in Southwestern France, hoping to safeguard the livelihoods that surround it.

Check out a snapshot of the experience above and head to Balenciaga's dedicated microsite for more information.
