Did 'Nobody Wants This' Just Save The "Rom-Com?"
info@hypebae.com (Hypebae) Fri, 04 Oct 2024 HypebaeFollowing its premiere on Netflix, Nobody Wants This has seemingly revived the romantic comedy category.
"Kristen Bell and Adam Brody singlehandedly saved the rom-com industry with 10 episodes of insane chemistry and I owe them my life for it actually," one Twitter user shared.
Just this summer, YouTuber Mina Le questioned: "why aren't romcoms "romantic" anymore?" and it appears Bell and Brody have shut that discussion down.
Typically, toxic, heart-wrenching storylines are the most notable due to the emotional rollercoaster — cue the Joker and Harley Quinn’s "romance." But for Netflix’s new series, its appeal comes down to two elements viewers have secretly been yearning for: witty banter and healthy communication.
The series is centered around an unfiltered sex podcaster and Rabbi and follows the two singles as they try to defeat the odds — their opposite core values and families — and choose each other.
Since its September 26 premiere, "Nobody Wants This Season 2?” Has been a trending Google search. Of course, Netflix hasn’t responded aside from fueling the hype with gut-wrenching behind-the-scenes.
