5 Hilarious Reasons Why People Fake Orgasms

Did you know that women orgasm less during sex when f-cking men? In celebration of National Orgasm Day, let's take a look back at innerstudy's "Big-O" study, spilling all the tea behind a trend we'd love to see the end of: faking orgasms.

It's no secret that people fake orgasms, so much so that the orgasm gap is already at year four of its run. According to innerstudy, nearly half of all respondents, approximately 43%, admitted to faking an orgasm in the past. The femmes in the chat, unironically, already know this as only 20% of women were orgasming from penetrative sex in 2020.

Again, to no surprise, the study found that faking orgasms comes down to one reason: people wanting intercourse to end. The most reported reason for faking was due to poor hygiene. More specifically, their partner's bad breath. The second most reported reason was that they hated the sex position they were in.

Interestingly enough, room temperature and lighting were the next two reasons cited, which are common triggers for people with performance anxiety. Speaking of performance anxiety, 30% of people reported overthinking as a cause for faking orgasms. The point? Some things are out of your control and others can be fixed with a little communication. For example, asking "How are you feeling" or "Does this feel good?

Make sure you're communicating with your partner(s) before sex about what feels good, what's off limits, safe sex practices and how to redirect in case of awkward moments (pro-tip: laugh it off!)

Remember, sex is best with someone you can laugh with. Happy orgasming!
