I Haven't Vacationed for 2 Years—Here Are the Strategic Beauty Items I'm Packing

Sarah Yang  Wed, 06 Oct 2021  Who What Wear

Simply put, it's our job to find the best beauty products out there for you. From the newest serum to the hottest lipstick color to the dry shampoo that will change your life, we will find it, test it, and let you know what we think. We're not complaining. It's a pretty fun gig, and we'll volunteer to be beauty guinea pigs any day.

But one of the cool things to come out of this is finding out what products you're loving and buying. It helps us figure out what you want to learn more about and what you're into so we can bring even more personalized recs to you.

Because we share a lot of our favorites with you every single day, we recognize it might be hard to keep up. So we've decided to put together a handy weekly list of what we love and what you love—consider this a CliffsNotes, one-stop-shop of what's really trending and worth adding to your cart at this very moment.

This week, I'm sharing all the products I'm bringing with me on my long-awaited vacation. Hopefully they all fit into my carry-on! Do you have a product that we missed? We'd love to know. Send us a DM.

Traveling can wreck my skin, so I need to use gentle products that won't irritate it. I love this cleanser from Youth to the People because it does such a good job of cleansing the skin but doesn't dry it out or leave it feeling tight. Plus, it's a gel formula, which I'm a big fan of.

The dirt and grime can really pile up when you're traveling, especially when you're going from an Uber to a plane to a hotel. I like using micellar water throughout the day to freshen up my skin.

This sunscreen stick is so easy to tote around in your purse or travel bag. It's invisible and lightweight and doesn't feel super sticky or greasy.

This is my everyday shampoo, so of course, I need to bring the travel-sized version with me. It always makes my hair feel and look thicker and voluminous. It also contains coconut oil for some extra shine.

And if I'm bringing the shampoo, I have to pack the conditioner, too. I love that this one doesn't weigh my hair down like some other conditioners do.

It's hard to pack a big eye shadow palette because it can take up a lot of space in your makeup bag, but you may also want to have some options. This mini palette of six shades is so versatile and can create a number of looks.

Drunk Elephant's Protini Moisturizer is a great option for every day. It has skin-boosting ingredients like signal peptides, growth factors, amino acids, and pygmy water lily.

Oribe's Dry Texturizing Spray needs no introduction—it's definitely a cult favorite. It always adds a ton of volume and texture to my hair with basically zero effort required.

I've been incorporating this oil into my nighttime routine regularly because it really is so good at moisturizing my skin. When I wake up the next morning, my dry patches seem to disappear. And it makes my face glowy and smooth.

This isn't exactly a travel-sized product, but it's a must-have for me, so I can't go on a trip without it. To me, it's a two-in-one product since I like using it as a primer in addition to sun protection. Technically, I'm saving room, right?

I keep this lip balm in my purse at all times, so it's going in my travel bag. Not only is it hydrating, but it also manages to plump up my lips a little bit.

Without fail, my skin gets so parched on flights. I like to use an overnight mask to rescue my dry skin the first night of vacation (and other nights if needed). This one contains damask rose extract to hydrate and smooth the skin, plus hyaluronic acid to plump. It also has special time-release technology that moisturizes throughout the night.

You have to pack body lotion, too. Aveeno's option is great because it's gentle and soothing and doesn't cause any irritation.

Traveling can get pretty tiring, but you don't want to sleep all day, right? These eye gels revive my tired and dull eyes so I'm ready for a night out.

This spray is nice to take with you on the go so you can freshen up throughout the day. It's especially great if you're going to a hot climate or are walking around a lot.

I only recently started using a cleansing balm to take off makeup, and I really like using it to remove heavy eye makeup or when I've got a full face on. Because it's a balm, it doesn't leave my skin dehydrated or stripped of moisture.

For all my toiletries that don't have travel-sized versions, I put them in these handy silicone bottles. They're leak-proof, so I don't have to worry about anything spilling and getting messy in my luggage. Next, Experts Say Great Skin Is All About Breaking These 6 Beauty Habits
