Established in 1949 by Kihachiro Onitsuka, Onitsuka Tiger has dropped some of the hottest sneakers in the streetwear scene. There is no denying the Japanese brand's pop culture significance, particularly in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill series. In the film, Uma Thurman's character sports a yellow outfit with black stripes, complemented by a matching pair of Onitsuka Tiger sneakers inspired by Bruce Lee, who famously wore a similar ensemble, including a pair of Mexico 66 trainers, in his final film, Game of Death.

This year, the brand celebrates its 75th anniversary in Paris and will mark its milestone with a month-long pop-up event at the iconic Champs-Élysées, where the flagship store is set to debut in 2025. The pop-up will be reimagined as "Hotel Onitsuka Tiger," with rooms such as the "Heritage" room, "Contemporary" room and "Immersive' room. It will feature a diverse range of activities and artist residencies, including Chinese pianist Yuja Wang and Michelin star chef Yoji Tokuyoshi. There will also be a "Yellow Tiger Café" and a "Inagaki-san" atelier, so visitors won't miss out on the incredible culinary and arts culture Japan has to offer.

The celebration includes an exhibition showcasing an archive of the sneakers that highlight the evolution and milestones of the past 75 years, along with a special photo display that will chart the brand's journey.

The pop-up is open until August 17 with admission free of charge. Advance booking required.

More details about the event can be found on the Onitsuka Tiger website.
