Coachella is paying for Frank Ocean's absence -- literally. According to Billboard, Ocean's last-minute choice to opt out of weekend 2 will cost the music festival "several million dollars."

An insider told the publication "that festival promoter Goldenvoice is trying to make the best out of the millions of dollars spent on building a giant ice pad that was supposed to accommodate over 100 skaters during Ocean’s set last Sunday night but was scrapped at the last minute after the artist suffered an ankle injury. The ice pad cannot be used as a public ice rink, the source says, but the Goldenvoice team is working out how to incorporate it into another yet-to-be-determined performance."

On April 19, it was announced that Ocean was dropping out of his performance. The announcement was made three days after he gave his first Coachella headlining show since 2017.

Ocean described his recent Coachella performance as "chaotic" as there were several issues; he was an hour late, his set was cut short as he went over curfew, the live stream of his set was canceled and more. "There is some beauty in chaos. It isn’t what I intended to show, but I did enjoy being out there and I’ll see you soon," he said in a statement.

According to multiple reports, Blink-182 and the DJ trio Skrillex, Four Tet and Fred Again will replace Ocean on Sunday, April 23.
