Filipino-American Graphic Designer To Host LA Concert Benefiting the Fight Against AAPI Hate

In light of the ongoing hate crimes against the AAPI community in the U.S., Filipino-American graphic designer Andre Cadiz will host a concert in Los Angeles benefiting the fight against AAPI hate.

Last year, Cadiz was, unfortunately, a victim of a hate crime. In the middle of the afternoon, Cadiz was having lunch outside a restaurant in the city’s Historic Filipinotown when a man started to yell and threw a rock at him. “I jumped out of my seat and then I realized this guy in the parking lot was in a stance that looked like he just threw something,” Cadiz told the Asian Journal. “There was a mark on the window and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, that was a rock that went over my head.'”

Cadiz then quickly started filming the situation in which the attacker is seen with another rock and a pair of scissors. "The man has also threatened the staff and other patrons outside. He has been reported to the police and the restaurant owner has all of these videos and photos," he shared in his caption.

To further shed light on this issue and support the AAPI community, Cadiz will donate 100% of the profits from his Minti Land concert to Stop AAPI Hate. Set to perform at the event are Noodles, REI AMI, YAS and Way Liu.

You can now purchase your ticket to Minti Land here, which will take place on June 2 at 1720 E 16th St. Los Angeles.
