When an R is not enough: Jaguar F-Type SVR

Who ever said it's just to much is telling a lie, well at least in the minds of Jaguar that is. The likes of AMG-S and BMW M Competition have forced car manufacturers to step up their game and Jaguar has proven that there is still some more purr left in the kitten in stroking the F-Type Supercharged V8 to a higher limit that focuses more on the dynamics of the corner rather than the straight line of a ruler. The game has certainly changed and you can't be a one trick pony in the sports car arena, see there is stiff competition out there:
  • Mercedes AMG GTR
  • Porshe 911 Turbo S
  • Corvette Z06
  • Nissan GTR
  • BMW I8 (it's not as fast but it is here)
  • Audi R8
  • Acura NSX

Through it all Jaguar does want to play in the sports arena, they have put in several steps to becoming a world player in the luxury car arena. I will say this without hesitation they're in the running sporting one of the top luxury sedans in the XJR, the XFR is player in the sedan market and the two newest players that should pay dividents in the F Pace and XE. See the F Type is a novelty its the car that gets you thinking of Jaguar, and this SVR is meant to keep up with the Jones's as the Germans and Japanese continue to create war.

Interior:
Jaguar has been bought out by Tata and I am wondering if most of the budgeting went to the exterior which is extremely gorgeous. The insides though Ikea like in presentation the quality begs to offer more. Their cousin Aston Martin could've paid huge dividends but not too much can be expected from a car company that nearly lost it all a couple of years back. I make these comments in a way to say when your playing with these type of players everything will be scrutinized to differentiate the car from the rest of the market. I will mention that the quilted seats are one of the items that we can give a big thumbs up for in this opinionated review.

The controls are all in the right places the material I would rate a B+ but is this a cut above the normal R model. I would say from an interior point of view aside from the SVR badges there is no discernible difference. The strong points appear to the touch screen and the climate control knobs. The seat adjustments on the door give an ode to the beautiful XKR-S but a more logical reason was not a copy for James Bond but an issue with space in the vehicle.

Exterior:
All the money went here, just kidding the looks of this car are to die for. What a beauty it is to see the quad pipes stick out of some the carbon fiber side skirts. The lines are perfect but a more grand entry would be to extend the length, the long bonnet look is great but the space especially for us future athletes is about to petite for my liking. To put it lightly this and the corvette, and viper are under fire for the worlds smallest interiors in 2016 we have to find a way around this even though these are performance focused cars. I am being picky yes I fit even though I am on the high end of height scale at 6'5 / 6'6 but when a 5'6 well built female says its kinda cramped in here we may have something to worry about. Outside of the wording theatrics the vents abound and are functional the lights purr at you from a far and it certainly has the Jaguar presence.  The car has all the makings of being the emoji for "Sexy Kitten" .

How do you separate this from the R

To start off the large rear spoiler carbon fiber that is:

The different front end, with larger vents:

The 20in forget wheels that offer more size and less weight for better grip and more speed,
And the torque vectoring used in coordination with the AWD a first for the F Type:

Drive:
So if the 15hp variance does it really make waves in your mind that's because it shouldn't this menacing SVR was built for the corners to eliminate the aggravated situation you feel while going 100 mph on a right-hand turn as the confidence the car exudes makes it happen. The shifts appear to be quicker from the ZF probably some additional tuning put in place for additional neck braking acceleration, but the way it moves the sounds it makes this is the pinnacle of Jaguar with a splice of CX-75 the F Type is in the game. So the skinny on this the car is supercharged still, that means in the real world you push gas and you're gone, the issue turbo's though sometimes unpredictable never fail the pace wars easy to tune and get speed. So will this compete against a 911 Turbo No. Will this take our the AMG GTR probably Not. Can this car capture the imagination and keep up with all of those cars on occasions. Yes. That my friends is why you buy the Jaguar not for being the best but for being different for capturing something that Nurburing bragging rights can't bring. Respect the Jaguar.
